What The Bosses Said - Latics 4-0 Newcastle



What a fantastic result, Wigan Athletic 4 Newcastle United 0, but the performance, wow, it's difficult to put into words just how good we were yesterday, all over the pitch the Latics were simply outstanding, my only complaint is that the match referee, Mike Dean blew his whistle at 4:50 to end the game, I could have watched them play all night!

After the game though both bosses, Roberto Martinez and Alan Pardew, spoke to the media about the performance, the goals, the fans and looking at their faces, even Pardews, I`d say they also enjoyed what they`d just witnessed, let's take a look at what they said:

Latics boss Roberto Martinez - 'April has been the biggest month our history'

'Playing against Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle - they've been in a terrific moment of form.

'We are very, very fortunate to be who we are in every department of the football club.

'The fans, chairman, directors, staff and players, we know we need to work really, really hard to keep our dream alive and that comes with belief.

'Sometimes you need to face real moments of adversity and we were very, very proud in the manner the crowd helped us through them periods and today they were no different.'

'The difference today was that we took our chances'

'Since early February we had good levels of performance and played really well but you need to take your chances.

'Today we had belief, arrogance, call it what you like. Our finishing was outstanding. The first-half display was as good as against Manchester United - the team showed great maturity and it's a very strong clean sheet. At this stage of the season that's very important.'

'I tried to shore it up a bit but we couldn't live with them, it was all Wigan it was like a nice wave that went their way'
