Lawro Predicts - Latics v Wolves

Mark 'Lawro' Lawrenson has done his weekly round of Premier League predictions for the BBC, the Match of the Day pundit is forecasting that Sunday's clash between Wigan Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers at the DW Stadium will end in a home win, let's take a look at his reasons:

Wigan v Wolves

This fixture had last-day drama written all over it a few weeks ago. Who would have thought both teams would know their fate by now, and for different reasons too?

Well done to Wigan for staying up because they have been absolutely sensational in the last few weeks. Wolves, on the other hand, have collapsed like a deck of cards.

All the Wigan fans will be happy campers after seeing their side make sure of survival against Blackburn on Monday, while I am not sure what Wolves supporters will be thinking as they wave farewell to the top flight.

Will they be back in the Premier League soon? It depends on who their next manager is, but I think owner Steve Morgan is ambitious enough to want to see them back in the big time after having a taste of it.

I think they will be competitive in the Championship, although they will have to scrap for promotion and it might take more than one season to bounce back because relegated teams don't just automatically start winning games in that division.

Prediction: 2-0

I think this will be quite an open game for the first 60 minutes or so then end of season apathy could well set in, 2-1 Latics win

once again wigwam have escaped - every year since they got promoted they have been in the bottom 6, ***** comes round and they will be down next season, the only thing they have ever done in football is excist it's about time that they went back to were they belong- the blue square league.

Latics have made Big Ears, Shearer and Lawrence look idiots again, they never learn, at least Alan Hansen talked a bit about the way we were playing, most of it was right at the time.
