Envious Shaun Maloney Back In The Scotland Fold

Wigan Athletic attacking midfield man Shaun Maloney says his two Latics team mates, Gary Caldwell and James McArthur, getting called up for Scotland squads left him feeling envious

Maloney had a superb end to the season and has been in scintillating form since March, without doubt the most creative player in the Latics attack at the back end of the season, this fine form led to a recall to the Scotland squad for the former Celtic man ahead of tomorrow's friendly international against America in Jacksonville.

Maloney looks likely to add to his 19 caps, the last one coming back in 2010, and says that part of his motivation to get in the Latics team was to get an international recall, Maloney said: 'Of course you are very envious when you're not involved with Scotland and see team-mates like Gary Caldwell and James McArthur going off to meet up with squads.

'I did miss it and that was part of my motivation to get back into the team with Wigan, so I was happy to get the call-up this time.

'My family are very patriotic when it comes to things like this and it means a lot to me.'
