Former Latic Chris Thompson Sadly Passes Away

It's been announced that former Wigan Athletic player Chris Thompson sadly passed away last weekend aged just 52

The attacking midfield man joined the Latics from Blackburn Rovers in 1986 and made 74 appearances and scored 12 goals for the club before moving on to Blackpool in 1988

Walsall born Chris played alongside Bobby Campbell, Paul Jewell and David Lowe under Ray Mathias in what was an exciting Latics forward line, he featured as we made the ΒΌ finals of the FA Cup and reached the first ever play-offs, scoring against Swindon at Springfield Park to put the Latics one up with a strike from outside the box

Deepest sympathy from all at Vital Wigan to Chris's family, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time
