Momo Diamé About To Get Hammered

Wigan Athletic midfield man Momo Diamé has agreed to join Premier League rivals West Ham United once his contract at the Latics expires in nine days time

The France born Senegal international was plucked from the Spanish second division by Roberto Martinez in 2009 when the Latics paid Rayo Vallecano 3 million euros for 25 year old, Diamé went on to play 103 times for the club scoring five goals, though he hadn't started a game in 2012 since losing his place in the team to James McArthur.

The Latics report that they had offered Diamé an improved contract but he chose the option of exercising his right and moving on to pastures new, which, he presumably feels is the way to forward his career, West Ham though is a strange choice for someone regarded as a cultured midfield player

This isn't the West Ham, who had the 'School of Football' under managers like Ron Greenwood, John Lyall, Billy Bonds and Harry Redknapp, this is the West Ham of Sam Allardyce and we all know how big Sam likes his football played

The Upton Park fans appreciate a good footballer but they don't like it when things start to go wrong and they can vent their disapproval with the best of them, so I'm a little confused when Diamé says - 'I know the fans here get behind the team all the time.', hey well it's his choice

Allardyce does seem to be quite chuffed by his new signing and he says - 'His potential is really good and he's ready to go and compete in the first team straight away as he's had three years in the Premier League already'

'He's 25 and can only get better and I hope he can go on to prove that to me and all of the West Ham United fans. He will be a very exciting addition to the squad.'

Players come and go at the Latics, but not many go and enhance their career away from the DW, Diamé seems a nice guy, I just hope for his sake that this strange choice doesn't become a bad one and joining the Hammers doesn`t see him getting hammered!

Hey Diamé, don't you like my town?
