Time For Some New Arrivals At The Latics

Time For Some New Arrivals At The Latics

1st of July and the new transfer window is now officially open, players, whose contracts were due to expire at the end of the last season, have now become free agents

From today Momo Diame and Chris Kirkland have moved on to West Ham and Sheffield Wednesday respectively, Hugo Rodallega, Hendry Thomas and Steve Gohouri have received their last pay cheque off the Latics but are still searching for a new employer, though I don't think any of them will have problems getting fixed up somewhere

No doubt our incoming lounge at the DW Stadium will start to see some arrivals, it's common knowledge that players representatives have been to the stadium to speak with Kevin Reeves our chief scout/general manager, also Latics boss Roberto Martinez, though some believe he's been out in the Ukraine for the entirety of Euro 2012, has actually been doing a fair bit of hopping on and off planes to-ing and fro-ing for who knows what

The Wigan Athletic senior squad are due to report back for preseason training this Thursday the 5th, four days in Wigan then off for some high intensity stuff in Sweden for a week, I'd think Martinez would like to have at least two of his proposed five new signings in by then

Not much on the rumour mill at the moment, but this week it's all likely to start becoming a little bit hectic

Latics v QPR - Big Game Preview

An important game at the DW Stadium tomorrow for the Latics, Gary Caldwell will be hoping to banish the disappointment of conceding a 93 minute goal away at Forest last Saturday that saw a point slip away after coming from behind three times in the game.

QPR are in town, they aren't quite the multi-millionaires that they were the last time that we met, that was in the play off semi-final in 2014, but they do have a squad with lots of quality and will certainly pose a threat.
