3rd Time Unlucky For Chelsea In Moses Bid

Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan has told the Sun that the Latics have rejected a third bid from European Champions Chelsea as the Londoners hot up their pursuit of Victor Moses.

It`s well known that Moses, who is 21, will be out of contract at the end of next season and it would appear that Chelsea are attempting to prise the talented youngster away from the DW Stadium on the cheap

Their initial bid was derided by Whelan as `taking the mick`, it would appear that the subsequent two bids are also short of the mark, the Latics are reputedly looking for a fee of somewhere around the £10 million mark, reported interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool should also determine that Moses will not be leaving on the cheap

Whelan hasn`t given up hope though of the Nigeria international extending his stay at the Latics and he says that an offer is on the table for Moses, he also says that Moses would continue to work under Latics boss Roberto Martinez if he 'had any brains`

Speaking to the Sun Whelan said: 'They've made three bids and we've not accepted any'

'We're still hoping that he signs an extended deal.

'They've all come in the last three weeks, but they've not offered enough.

'I don't know if they'll bid again, but if they do we always listen. And if it is what Roberto believes he is worth then we will take it from there.

'If the lad had any brains he'd stay under Roberto for another year or so.'

No doubt this will run for a few weeks yet, especially as the Latics are under no real pressure to sell, with Moses being under 24 if he does move on next summer then compensation will have to be paid any way by his new club even with his contract expiring. Like Whelan say`s though, he`d be better off staying put for a while yet
