Vital Latics Top 50 - Matt Jackson

Vital Wigan members and posters have produced a Latics Top 50 Footballers list and there are some great players on that list and their names really do conjure up some fantastic memories. The members of Vital Latics have also created some very unique pen-pictures of their hero's, these are being published in no particular order:

Matt Jackson

We've been blessed with some superb defenders in our history and Matt Jackson is certainly one of the best. Signed on a free transfer to partner Jason De Vos in defence, they built an outstanding partnership that helped secure promotion from the Second Division.

A couple of promotions and defensive partners later and he found himself guiding Wigan Athletic in the Premier League. And he didn't look out of place.

Yet another extremely loyal servant for the club, Jackson showed the passion and commitment that the fans loved to see. He became club captain and was the ultimate ambassador for the club.

He cost nothing, he became club captain, he guided us to and helped maintain a Premier League position and now he makes the top 50.
