Alexander López Latest Honduran For The Latics?

Wigan Athletic are being linked with Honduras Olympic squad member Alexander López

The highly rated 20 year old attacking midfield man currently plays for Olimpia in Honduras, the same club that Wilson Palacios, Hendry Thomas and Maynor Figueroa were all signed from, he scored on his debut in 2010 and went on to have a fantastic first season in professional football, attracting interest from Spurs, Malaga and Napoli, unfortunately he suffered a cruciate ligament injury and spent a year out of the game.

"He does sound like an exciting prospect though & would be ideal for him to learn from a player like Maloney!"

López has represented Honduras at Under 17 and Under 20 level as well as making three appearances at full international level, he is currently in the UK competing in the Olympic games with the Honduras team and played in the 2-2 draw with Morocco last week

The Times are saying that the Latics have agreed a deal for López, whether that's the case remains to be seen, but he is the type and age of player that Roberto Martinez shows interest in

Honduras take on Spain this afternoon in their second group game of the Olympics
