Wigan Athletic - Back Home



Wigan Athletic first team squad have returned home from their week long retreat in Austria, which was part of the preseason preparations, with Latics boss Roberto Martinez declaring 'its been a very good week'

Three games played and intense training in their Austrian hide-away as left Martinez very happy with the way it's all gone, two draws and a win, bar James McArthur who has a slight knock, all the players got on the pitch at some point during each of the games

Now the squad are back in the UK the heat will be turned up at Christopher Park, less than three weeks to the big kick-off against Chelsea Martinez is determined that the players are ready for the new season

Speaking to Latics Player Martinez said: 'It's been a very good week, every player has been able to put a fantastic platform down

'I fell we're a little ahead of where we were at this stage last season and that is pleasing

'It's good to see the youngsters integrate so well with the first teamers and this give you an extra dimension

'Now is the time to kick on and take this work into next week and make sure we are ready for the new season'
