Young Australian Goalkeeper On Trial At Latics

Wigan Athletic are set to take young Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan on a weeklong trial

The 20 year old shot stopper currently plays for Central Coast Mariners in the Hyundai League and his fine form of late has alerted clubs to his potential

West Coast Mariners official website announced:

"MARINERS custodian Mathew Ryan will spend time training with Barclays Premier League sides Wigan Athletic and West Bromwich Albion following his one-week spell with Tottenham Hotspur.

The talented 20-year-old`s time with Tottenham at their new training base in London commences tomorrow and concludes on Thursday 9 August.

Following the announcement that Ryan would be in the United Kingdom with Spurs, Central Coast Mariners received unprecedented interest from a number of Barclays Premier League and nPower Championship clubs, each eager to have the 2012 Hyundai A-League Goalkeeper of the Year join them on trial.

Ryan is now due to return to Australia in mid-August to continue pre-season preparations with Central Coast Mariners."
