Rob's Prediction: Southampton Vs Wigan

Wigan Athletic got the news out to the fans today that their fans had been both dreading and hoping for. Victor Moses is a Chelsea player. In the end, it was inevitable that this was going to happen and now it has, we all need to move on. Its not like we don't have a ready made replacement. We have Ryo Miyachi from Arsenal to fill his void. Roberto and co. will have a plan to overcome which, to me, is nothing more than a minor concern.

Southampton came off the back of a surprising 3-2 defeat to Manchester City - The Saints even took the lead at the Etihad Stadium at one point and it looked as if they might just go on to win from that point but in the end, the blue moon of Manchester scored two late goals to break the Saints brave display but they can take plenty of heart from it and take it into the home game which will be a tricky game for the Latics this weekend. However, Southampton know Wigan will be no pushovers.

Losing to the Saints tomorrow will not be a season defining moment and Mark Lawrenson, a personal friend of the Latics (couldn't resist) has us going down to a 2-0 home defeat. I don't see it that way - in fact, Wigan have just as much a point to prove as Southampton do after a spirited display against Chelsea in which two defensive blunders from new boy Ramis was the only blot on the copybook - he was immense after that.

After a disappointing start, Wigan and Southampton both have ambition to move on and put the first points on the board.

ROB'S PREDICTION
=================

This is a stern assignment at Saint Mary's - Southampton want to impress and they did so at Manchester City. Wigan will prove a tough assignment for them and despite their solid home form, I too am going for a draw. 2-2

ROB'S OTHER PREDICTIONS
=======================

Swansea Vs West Ham - I think that Swansea should win this game quite comfortably after their magnificent display against QPR despite the fact that QPR were not good on the day. 2-0

Aston Villa Vs Everton - Tricky assignment for Villa this and I expect that Everton will walk away from this fixture with all three points. 0-1

Man Utd Vs Fulham - Manchester United will win this game but it won't be a cricket score. Fulham are hard to beat under Martin Jol as was proved on their last visit to United. 2-0

Norwich Vs QPR - This is a relegation battle game for me, despite it being an early season match. QPR need to win this game. Both sides were utterly abysmal in their opening fixtures. However, I suspect QPR will walk away from this game with all three points. 0-1

Sunderland Vs Reading - An intriguing match and a game in which I think anything could happen - Reading and Sunderland are both decent sides and with Sunderland being at home, you'd expect a home win perhaps but I think Reading will do this. I just have a feeling. 1-2

Tottenham Vs West Brom - Wouldn't want to be Brom going into this game but they got a superb win over Liverpool -that's where the fairytale ends for Clarke for now, I reckon. Won't be easy for Spurs but this is a great opportunity to put the Newcastle nightmare behind them. 2-0

Chelsea Vs Newcastle - Chelsea have started the season on fire and they were a shade fortunate to perhaps win against Reading and arguably against the Latics as well as they were pretty much gifted the goals at the DW and Reading's loss was down to (surprise, surprise) an abysmal linesman's decision. Nevertheless, I suspect Chelsea will have too much for Newcastle this time round and will want to avenge their home loss to them last season. 2-0

Stoke V Arsenal - Not for the faint hearted - these games are very tasty and Stoke have a good record against an Arsenal side still trying to find their shape after RVP'S sale. I think Stoke might add to Arsenal woe with a victory. 1-0

Liverpool V Man City - A tough one to call but I think that Liverpool's poor result last weekend combined with City's win means for me that City will walk away with all three points - collectively they're better than the Reds in my opinion as well. Another eye opener for Brendan Rogers. 1-3

See you next time for Rob's Prediction! Sorry I didn't do one last weekend - I was on holiday.
