Vote For Your Latics Man Of The Match v Stoke

Vote For Your Latics Man Of The Match v Stoke

Saturdays draw with Stoke contained some very good individual performances and, on the whole, a good team performance.

If we take a quick look at the stand-outs though, three spring to mind for me, Ali Al Habsi, Shaun Maloney and Franco Di Santo.

What can you say about Ali? He was steady all game but that save from the Charlie Adam free kick was just sensational, he was going to his left when the ball took a wicked deflection of Gary Caldwell's head, Ali adjusted in a split second and somehow managed to get a strong hand on the ball and push it away from goal, outstanding save.

Shaun Maloney once again pulled the strings, a fantastic creative player in the heart of our team, he linked superbly with both the midfield and the forwards and of course he scored the opening goal from the penalty spot

Franco though is my choice as man of the match, I think he had another top, top game. He worked tirelessly all afternoon, he should have been awarded a penalty when he was bundled to the floor by two Stoke defenders in the first half and his goal was just superb. He picked the ball up on the edge of our box following a Stoke corner, he carried it forward before releasing Kone down the right, when Kone arrived in the box Di Santo had made up the ground to support his strike partner, he received the ball back and hit a sweet side-footed drive first time into the far bottom corner, lovely goal

So Franco Di Santo is my choice for the Latics man of the match, but who is yours, to participate in the vote simply access the poll on the right side of this page, select your preferred option, then hit the submit button, it's that easy
