James McCarthy Set To Start For Rep of Ireland

James McCarthy Set To Start For Rep of Ireland

Latics midfield man James McCarthy will make his first start for the Republic of Ireland in a competitive match after being named in the side to face Kazakhstan in tomorrows (Friday) World Cup qualifier in Astana

Irish boss Trapattonni will be hoping for a good show following a very disappointing summer when his side failed badly in the European Championship finals, he has brought in McCarthy and hopefully the Latics youngster can have a big game and get the Republic off to a good start

With Germany next up on Tuesday this could be a baptism of fire for young Macca

Republic of Ireland (v Kazakhstan): Keiren Westwood (Sunderland), John O`Shea (Sunderland), Darren O`Dea (Toronto), Sean St Ledger (Leicester), Stephen Ward (Wolves), Simon Cox (Nottingham Forest), Glenn Whelan (Stoke), James McCarthy (Wigan), Aiden McGeady (Spartak Moscow), Robbie Keane (Los Angeles Galaxy), Jon Walters (Stoke).
