Meet The Ref - Latics v Fulham - Lee Probert

Dodgy penalties, free kicks for two footed lunges not given, once again the Latics are appearing to be on the receiving end of some questionable refereeing, what we want is some firm but fair officiating by the men in the middle. On Saturday Fulham are in town and the man that we be relying on this Saturday to give us a decent crack of the whip is Gloucestershire referee, Lee Probert.

The 39 year old official was in charge of just two Latics games last season, both were away and both ended in 3-1 defeat's, away at Wolves back in early November, during that game there was the infamous Alcaraz spit, which Probert missed, but the cameras didn't, the Latics defender ended up with a retrospective three match ban. The other game was at White Hart Lane at the end of January, a game that we lost but we didn't half kick-on from

Probert first got interested in refereeing at the tender age of 16, he sat the exam and the rest, as they say, is history. He has now been refing in the Premier League since 2007

Intimidated, swayed, influenced, most definitely, we would never have been awarded that penalty, Im 100% confident of that

Latics v Wolves - Big Game Preview

There is a little bit of pressure starting to mount down at the Latics, no win in seven games and sitting bottom of the pile, the sooner we can get a three points haul in the bag the better.

Gary Caldwell felt that his team were unlucky not to win the game at Preston on Friday never mind lose it, a wickedly deflected effort early on followed by some resolute defending kept the Latics at bay, but a failure to take two excellent chances was the downfall as we lost by the odd goal for the 7t
