Meet The Ref - Spurs v Latics - Martin Atkinson

Wigan Athletic travel to White Hart Lane on Saturday to face Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League clash, the man in charge of the game will be Martin Atkinson, this will be the second time this season that the Bradford based official has been in the middle for both the Latics and Spurs

Atkinson took charge of our 2-2 draw with Stoke at the DW back at the beginning of September, he was also in charge of Spurs opening game of the season in their 2-1 defeat away at Newcastle

The 41 year old has been refereeing since he was 16, he was a Conference referee in 2002, but he had a rapid rise and had progressed all the way to the Premier League by 2005, known to many as a one to favour the big clubs, Atkinson is very whistle happy
