Meet The Ref - Latics v West Brom - Neil Swarbrick

The Wigan Athletic v West Bromwich Albion game at the DW Stadium on Saturday will be refereed by Preston based official Neil Swarbrick.

The 42 year old whistle blower is in his second season as a top flight official having been promoted to the select group of referees back in June 2011, though his first top flight game was the season before when he took charge of the Fulham v Sunderland goalless draw in December 2010.

Swarbrick was a late comer to the woes of a referee and he only picked up his whistle at the age of 29, he started life off in the Northern Premier League before moving onto the Conference, making it to the Football League in 2005. Here's hoping for a good game from him on Saturday
