Lee Nicholls Returns To Northampton For The Season

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Lee Nicholls is back at Northampton Town following a successful months loan, so impressed was Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd with Nicholls, that he has taken the young shot stopper for the rest of the season.

The 20 year old has earned some rave reviews at Sixfields and Latics boss Roberto Martinez had no qualms about letting him go back for the season, though there is a 24 hour call back clause in the deal, should the need arise

Speaking to Latics official website Martinez said - 'Lee has really enjoyed being involved in a first team environment'

'His performances so far have been fantastic and he is improving with every game which is making him a big part of Northampton's team.

'We will be keeping a close eye on Lee because he is a fantastic prospect for the future and has a great attitude towards his career.'

Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd speaking to the press said - 'Lee Nicholls is a loan that we definitely had to keep.'

'I'm very pleased because I think when players come out on loan, you know that they are going to come out and make mistakes and they're not the finished article, but you hope they learn very quickly and their talent carries them through'

'Lee has been exceptional as a person and as a player.'
