Wigan Athletic skipper Gary Caldwell has been rested from the Scotland squad due to face Luxembourg in a week's time
Following the sacking of Craig Levein, Billy Stark as taken temporary charge of team affairs, he has chosen a familiar looking squad but with a couple of notable exceptions, Gary Caldwell along with keeper Allan McGregor have been rewarded with a well earned rest, also missing from the ranks is James McArthur who is injured, Shaun Maloney though is named in the squad
Speaking about Caldwell`s omission Stark said - 'For a November friendly, a lot of football has already been played and some players will have niggles they would love the opportunity to shake off.
'Allan McGregor and Gary Caldwell, in particular, have been real stalwarts and terrific players for the national team in recent years.
'I've spoken to them and they were grateful to have the opportunity to have a wee break from this game.
'There is nothing more to it than that. It's simply the stage they are at.'
The squad in full is:
Charlie Adam (Stoke City)
Barry Bannan (Aston Villa)
Phil Bardsley (Sunderland)
Cameron Bell (Kilmarnock)
Christophe Berra (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Kris Commons (Celtic)
Darren Fletcher (Manchester United)
