'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Moronic Fans Are An Embarrassment

Just a bit of a whinge, but I'm blessed by having some right idiots within earshot of my seat in ES7 at the DW Stadium

They come along when the Latics play at home with the pretence of supporting the home team. Yet week in week out for the past 3 years they've abused certain players, well shall I say predominantly two players, Jason Scotland, who has since moved on, and Jordi Gomez, who now gets the full torrent of abuse.

I really want to shout this from the top of the East Stand, two things:

Jordi Gomez is a decent player
Jordi Gomez plays for Wigan Athletic

The vast majority realise this of course, but my frustration at the morons nearly boiled over today, following a superb move by Gomez when he totally bamboozled the Reading defence and wrong footed the keeper, he had the audacity not to score, on purpose I bet, the ball sailed narrowly wide of the far post, in actual fact it was a superb piece of skill, unfortunately in was on his 'wrong' foot and he just couldn't find the inside of the far post. The morons though took this as an invite to start booing every time he was on the ball, a home player, one of ours, booing him, what?

Of course we all know Gomez had a stormer, scored a hat-trick, got a last gasp winner and he'll be back on Wednesday to a warm round of applause from the genuine Latics fans, I just hope that the morons don't come again, ever, but they'll be back waiting for the first missed placed pass to jump on his back again.

It comes to something when one of your own players, one of the current longest serving players at your club tweets: 'Thanks to those who support me. And thanks to those who don't, you're making me a better player. Football without fans is nothing.'

Two fingers to the idiots there from Jordi, well said sir

Whinge over but these morons aren't half an embarrassment

Completely agree, 100% there were some day release patients near me as well. When Gomez threaded Kone perfectly and Kone missed....not a peep out of them. We got into verbals at that point, and left fully vindicated having backed Gomez. Cheers Jordi, the idiots annoyed me at first, but ultimately helped most od us enjoy your performance even more.
