What The Bosses Said - Latics 3-2 Reading

Latics beat Reading at the DW Stadium yesterday in a highly entertaining game, the final result was 3-2, but there were chances a plenty and Reading felt a little aggrieved over a penalty claim that wasn't given.

At the end of the game both managers spoke to the media, let's take a look at what they had to say:

Latics boss Roberto Martinez - 'Reading had half an opportunity to take advantage and did so from a set-play which put us in a difficult position.

'But the reaction of the players was magnificent; they got rid of that negative feeling, of having something to lose and showed what they can do.

'To score four goals, and I say four because I felt there was nothing wrong with Franco Di Santo's which was ruled offside, shows the quality and threat we have.

'Even after a rare mistake from Ali, you could see the players were not prepared to settle for a point and fought back for him.

'We have Ali to thank for so much during his time at Wigan Athletic, and when this situation occurs it's great to see the rest of the dressing room rally round for him, and don't forget that he did produce the save of the game moments earlier to keep his team in the match.'

Reading boss Brian McDermott - 'I think if the referee had given the penalty on Jay Tabb we would have gone on to win the game.

'Someone of Howard Webb's experience and quality, you would have expected him to get that one right.

'But when you're 2-2 in the 92nd minute and we've got the ball, you've got to make sure you see the game out.'
