Latics and Man City played out an entertaining game at the DW Stadium on Wednesday, unfortunately for us it was City who scored the goals in a 2-0 win, but there were still plenty of positives for Martinez to reflect on
Following the game both managers spoke to the media, let's take a look at what they had to say:
Latics boss Roberto Martinez - 'From our point of view, I think we edged the game for 60 minutes, we were so good off the ball, and defensively I thought the partnerships were very strong.
'We frustrated Manchester City and kept them to just one shot on target in the first half.
'We are disappointed because on the ball we couldn't be our normal selves. We got in great positions and had as many corners but we are better on the ball than that.
'The disappointment is we couldn't get the first goal in that period of 60 minutes.
"Overall it is very disappointing to lose a football game and not get that positive result after the manner the team worked.'
City boss Roberto Mancini - 'Wigan play with three defenders and two in the channels. I wanted to put players in the same positions as them and when we changed it, we scored the first goal. After that, the match changed.
'I am happy. We didn't play very well in the first half, we know Wigan are a good team. They play good football. We knew this before the game.
'When we have played against Wigan it has been a difficult match because they play very well.'
