The 39 year old official has taken charge of just one Latics game this season, the 2-1 home defeat by Fulham back in September, he was in charge of just two Latics games last season, both were away and yep you guessed we lost those as well, both ended in 3-1 defeat's, away at Wolves back in early November, during that game there was the infamous Alcaraz spit, which Probert missed, but the cameras didn't, the Latics defender ended up with a retrospective three match ban. Probert first got interested in refereeing at the tender age of 16, he sat the exam and the rest, as they say, is history. He has now been a Premier League referee since 2007
