'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lawro Predicts - Everton v Latics

Mark Lawrenson has done a bit of festive forecasting for the BBC, of course we play Everton at Goodison Park on Boxing Day, let's take a look at how he sees the game going

Everton v Wigan

Everton, despite the bizarre refereeing, managed to win at West Ham, which is a tough place to go and get three points.

Those are the type of results they need if they want to try to get into the top four. They've done it in recent games where they were 1-0 down against Tottenham until very late and drew against Stoke when, by the admission of manager David Moyes, they didn't play that well.

They have been the better side in quite a few of the draws they have had. What the win over West Ham will do is give Everton great belief.

It's groundhog day for Wigan. They lost to Arsenal, are on a poor run of results and do this every year. We write them off and think they are definitely going down and wait to see if there is going to be a reaction, which there probably will be.

If they were having this run in April you would probably write them off but they usually have a good run at the end of the season. I think there are three worse teams in the Premier League than Wigan, although maybe not at the moment.

Prediction: 2-0

I am hopeful of a draw here, my prediction is 1-1
