Angelo Henriquez Joins Wigan Athletic

Latics have announced the signing of Manchester United young striker Angelo Henriquez on loan for the rest of the season

Welcome Angelo

By permission of Bernard Platt/Wigan Athletic

The 18 year old Chile international will wear the number 11 shirt and he is eligible to make his debut in Saturdays 3rd round FA cup tie against Bournemouth at the DW Stadium

With Arouna Kone away on international duty for the next six weeks there is a real opportunity for Henriquez to make his mark

Speaking about his new signing Latics boss Roberto Martinez said: 'We're really excited about Angelo because he is a very young man with a huge potential; he's a goal-scorer with clever movement inside the box and has had a very successful time with his former club Universidad.

'We hope to have a good partnership in terms of allowing Angelo to develop as a footballer and learn of the demands of the English game, because I feel he can bring us something different in the forward line.

'I`m sure the fans will give him a great welcome on Saturday and it will provide him with the perfect opportunity to begin his experiences on the pitch in English football which is very exciting.'

Henriquez himself is looking forward to the challenge and he spoke to the Latics official website saying - 'This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I am really excited after the manager has given this chance for me to prove myself. Now I need to work to try and earn my place in the team.'

Welcome to the Latics Angelo

Another clever signing by Martinez! David Bentley next?

Chuffed with this and just wish Macheda wasn't so arrogant when he thought he was too good for Wigan and instead went to QPR which ended up him being a worse player when he could've improved his game at Wigan. Martinez is brilliant at developing players, the work he done with Cleverley alone who always had potential but looked he wasn't going to make it due to not physically being able to cope with the premier league, was brilliant. Cleverley owes him and Wigan a very big thank you for effectively saving his career in top flight football. Looking very forward to seeing how Henriquez copes and develops. Best of luck to him and you.
