Ivan Ramis Could Be Facing Lengthy Lay-Off

Wigan Athletic defender Ivan Ramis looks to have suffered a serious injury at Fulham yesterday, the Spaniard has only been back in the team for last two league games after missing six games with a groin strain, he could be facing the rest of the season on the sidelines

Challenging Fulham striker Berbatov for the ball Ramis was seen to clearly jar his knee and it bent with a sideways action, immediately there was concern for the big man and following lengthy treatment on the pitch he was carried off on a stretcher, obviously very distressed

The 28 year old is feared to have damaged his cruciate ligament, but Latics are awaiting the results of a scan before confirming

During his recent six game absence the Latics only picked up one point, a 2-2 draw with QPR, and they look decidedly less confident defensively without him, this injury is a big blow for the player and the club

Speaking to the Latics official website about Ramis, Roberto Martinez said - 'Until we get the results of the scan we can't be too sure but it looks long term and an injury to the ligaments in his right knee.

'It's difficult news to take because he doesn't deserve it after the performance he gave and the season he's had.'

Hopefully he'll make a full and quick recovery, we are a far better side with him in it
