Stoke v Latics Previous Meetings

Latics and Stoke have faced each other 28 times in all competitions since their first meeting at the Victoria Ground on 10th November 1990, Stoke won that Division Three game 2-0 and have slightly the upper hand in the following 27 fixtures

In the games between the two sides Latics have 7 wins, Stoke 10, draws 11. In the Premier League the record favours the Latics with 2 wins, 1 defeat and 6 draws from 9 games

There have been some classic encounters between the two sides down the years, who can forget the 6-1 drubbing that we handed out at the then JJB Stadium back in November 2001, well I can, that was the last home game that I have missed, I was filming at Pinewood Studios that day, no not a Bond movie, but the Weakest Link, and I was!

The stand out game though just as to be the 1-0 win at the Britannia in May 2011

An absolutely brilliant day, even the Stokies applauded us and wished us all the best, when Hugo's header hit the back of the net on 78 minutes there was no way that we were going to give up the points, just a brilliant, brilliant day to be a Latic

Simply brilliant
