Previous Meetings - Huddersfield v Latics

Wigan Athletic travel to Huddersfield on Sunday for an FA cup 5th round tie having never lost at the Galpharm Stadium, the fact that they have only played there twice doesn't need to be mentioned, we'll sit pretty with that undefeated record.

Seriously though, down the years we haven't had the best of fortunes when travelling to this particular part of West Yorkshire, we have played Huddersfield eleven times on their own patch, nine of which took place at their former home, Leeds Road, of those eleven, we haven't won any, drawn five and lost six, the two games played at the new stadium have both ended up as 0-0

Total meetings between the two sides in all competitions stands at 23

Latics 6 wins, Huddersfield 11, draws 6

The first time the clubs met was a 1st Round FA Cup tie in 1973, the Latics lost 2-0 at Leeds Road and that was the end of the cup dream for that year, but for me the stand out game as far as Latics fans are concerned just as to be the 0-0 draw in April 2003

4,000 Wiganers made the 40 odd mile trip up the M62 to watch the Latics affirm their position as League 2 Champions, although the trophy wasn't presented on the day the result meant that Wigan Athletic had an unassailable lead at the top of the table, a brilliant occasion for all the Latics fans.

I was at the game but the only two things that I remember from it are: we played in an all red kit, Jason De Vos had a banner at the end which said 'Champions' on it

Latics team that day was John Filan, Nicky Eden, Steve McMillan, Matt Jackson, Jason De Vos, Jason Jarrett, Jimmy Bullard, Lee McCulloch, Andy Liddell, Gary Teale, Neil Roberts. Tony Dinning and Peter Kennedy came on for Bullard and Liddell. Unused substitutes: Paul Mitchell, Ian Breckin and Mike Flynn. On the bench for Huddersfield was ex-Latics player Kevin Sharp

Gillingham 1-1 Wigan Match Report

Being top of the league didn't last long, did it? We'll leave that talk until May from now on. We drew 1-1 with a well-drilled Gillingham side.

Paul Cook made one change to the side that beat Southend United 3-0 on Saturday. Ivan Toney returned to the starting line-up, replacing Will Grigg.

It was an open first 20 minutes, which saw both sides miss good opportunities. Gavin Massey, Nathan Byrne and Dan Burn all had chances to open the scoring, while Sean Clare came close with a vol
