This weeks Wigan Evening Post 12th Man feature has one contribution from Vital Latics:
The Feel Good Factor Is Here
The feel good factor has definitely returned following Sunday's result. What a great piece of kidology from our esteemed gaffer, Roberto Martinez. He played down the importance of the cup all week, hinted strongly at the possibility of a much weakened team starting the game and then sends out the troops to demolish Huddersfield and march into the quarter-finals for only the second time in our history, well he had me fooled anyway.
A great performance from a strong looking line-up, it was also nice to see the bench full of quality, just in case. McManaman shone, Koné shook off the rust, Golobart again looked the part and Joel Robles appears to be a very capable young keeper, but I thought the star performer was young Fraser Fyvie by a mile
Unassuming in the centre of the park, the young midfielder went about his business like a seasoned pro. Strong in possession, a great eye for a pass, tenacious in the tackle, I thought he bossed the game, definitely a bright prospect for the future
The whole day was fantastic, Huddersfield were very friendly and accommodating, the half-time entertainment was legendary, a guy running around a broom ten times then taking a penalty, you had to see it, hilarious, a great atmosphere generated by the Latics fans, top class performance and to top it all off, on the way out of the ground they were selling left over pies at a third of the cost, brilliant
Now we leave the magic of the FA cup behind for a few weeks and its back to the Premier League, massive game at Reading on Saturday, for both clubs, a win is needed to get us back amongst it with games running out, a defeat would be disastrous and can't even be contemplated
Reading are in a spell of good form, but we must get at them, the two goals Koné scored at the weekend will have done him a power of good, hopefully the spring and buzz of the cup win can be a platform for the club to build upon in the league, let's keep this feel good factor going
