'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Paul Scharner - Latics Man Of The Match v Reading

Paul Scharner has been voted the Vital Wigan man of the match for his classy performance in the 3-0 win away at Reading on Saturday

The Latics number 33 had a storming game in the centre of defence, he never put a foot wrong all afternoon and one tackle in particular, on Pavel Pogrebnyak, was simply world class. Herr Scharner also made the top five of the top passers in the Premier League on Saturday, fantastic performance and well deserved man of the match award

For the record the voting was:

Paul Scharner - 57%
Arouna Koné - 20%
Maynor Figueroa - 13%

The new poll is now available on the right side of this page and its asking 'will you be at the meet & greet pre the Liverpool game on Saturday?'

Well will you?

The latest edition of the PWU Wigan Athletic podcast is now available for download.

This week in the studio are Barry, Dan, Gareth, Rob and Greg, we are also joined, through the wonders of modern technology, with Reading fan Josh Aspinall. First up for the crew this week is the FA cup win at Huddersfield and the excitement is so electric that you can almost touch it (00:00). Josh joins the chat as the Reading game is previewed (17:20).

Somehow talk flirts to biscuits (30:20) but is soon back on track as we weigh up the implications of a win, draw or defeat at the hands of Reading
