Latics v Liverpool Previous Meetings

When Wigan Athletic face Liverpool at the DW Stadium on Saturday it will be the 18th time the two sides have met, so far it isn't a very impressive record, though in recent meetings we've had slightly the upper hand

Of the 17 games played the Latics have two wins, Liverpool ten and there have been five draws, Latics have 12 goals, Liverpool 29

There is however a little light, of the last six games played between the two sides we have lost just the once, back in November a 3-0 defeat away, there have been two Latics wins and three draws, all in the Premier League. In fact, apart from this seasons trouncing at Anfield the past ten games have all been a very close affair with just the odd goal deciding the winner, if indeed one side did win.

So a bit of heart for the Latics to take into the game this weekend, plus Spring is in the air

Last Six Meetings

17 Nov 2012 - Premier League - Liverpool 3 Latics 0
24 Mar 2012 - Premier League - Liverpool 1 Latics 2
21 Dec 2011 - Premier League - Latics 0 Liverpool 0
12 Feb 2011 - Premier League - Liverpool 1 Latics 1
10 Nov 2010 - Premier League - Latics 1 Liverpool 1
08 Mar 2010 - Premier League - Latics 1 Liverpool 0

The most memorable game for me was the win at Anfield last season, it was right at the start of our great run that saw us climb the table to safety, a Shaun Maloney penalty and a great finish from Gary Caldwell gave us the points as we won 2-1, a never to be forgotten performance and the score-line was somewhat flattering to Liverpool
