'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What The Bosses Said - Man City 1-0 Latics

Despite a sterling performance at the Etihad last night, the Latics unfortunately headed back down the East Lancashire Road with nothing more than their pride

A late Carlos Tevez goal broke a few Wigan hearts when for all intents and purposes, a draw and a point was the very least the Latics deserved

After the game both managers spoke to the media, let's take a look at what they said:

Latics boss Roberto Martinez

'We didn't take the chances, it is as simple as that. I thought we were magnificent from start to finish.

'We created four very good chances. I don't think many teams come to the Etihad and create four very good chances in open play.

'Those chances need to finish in the back of the net and that's why we lost the game.

'If we do that in every game, we will get a lot of points. I couldn't be prouder of the performance.

'We limited them to two shots on target, I don't think many teams have done that.

'My players deserve huge credit.

'The performance is exactly what we need.'

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini

'They don't deserve to be relegated. And also because Martinez is a good manager. His team played very well.'

'They don't play long ball. They take also some risks when they start to play from the back. They try to play always.

'For 60 minutes, they played better than us. For the last 25 minutes, I think no. For the last 25 minutes, we played well, we had chances.'

Still feeling frustrated about losing!

It was a class goal and there lies the difference. Martinez needs to unearth a gem of a goalscorer to finish all the good work his team produce.

you guys didn't deserve to lose, a draw would have been a fair result, just need somebody to score or help take some of the pressure of Kone up front, after all your good approach play you Won't go down if you play like last night, (good luck for rest of the season, except on May 11)
