McClaren Or Coyle? - The Net Closes In

Unless there is a late charge by a newcomer it would appear that the new Latics boss is going to be a straight choice between either Owen Coyle or Steve McClaren

With interviews having taken place in the early part of this week former Bolton boss Coyle and former England boss McClaren have emerged as the top two contenders, an announcement should be made by Thursday as to which of these two candidates for the Wigan Athletic managers job has been successful

Whoever gets the role will undoubtedly have the full support of the Latics fans as we embark on a new era at the club, European football, promotion to the Premier League to chase and defence of the FA cup are three areas that will provide a large amount of focus, though promotion will be the number one objective

The bookies have both Coyle and McClaren around 2/1

Of the two I'd plump for McClaren

I'd agree - but is any of this based on real-life, or all just on newspaper speculation?

I'm just not sure about how entertaining his style is. If we're winning, everyone is happy. If not then everyone will be on his back.

Both Lytham, but nothing is nailed on

Owen did try to play football with Bolton but I wanna go for Steve McClaren by far. Knows attacking football and his european experience is vital. To be fair he is good in the market too!
francoslovechild
Steve McLaren for me.

Forget the names for a moment but......If you were offered a former assistant to fergie at Man U and former England manager, I think most people would say yes please! !

Gotta be McClaren... we just keep on collecting Macs.

I'd prefer McClaren. He has got experience of the English league, leagues around Europe and European competitions. This would be a better choice than Coyle.
