Meet The Backroom Boys - Coyles Team

Meet The Backroom Boys - Coyles Team

Wigan Athletic have announced the backroom team that will assist Owen Coyle over the coming months in the ultimate aim of a quick return to the Premier League

With Graeme Jones, Richard Evans, Kevin Reeves and Inaki Bergara following ex boss Roberto Martinez to Everton, it gave Coyle the opportunity to bring in his own men

Sandy Stewart (assistant manager), Phil Hughes (goalkeeping coach), Andy Mitchell (head physiotherapist) and James Barrow (strength and conditioning coach), take up their new positions alongside Graham Barrow who remains as First Team Coach and Dennis Lawrence, who remains as Development Squad Coach.

Sandy Stewart has worked with Coyle at St Johnstone, Burnley and Bolton, Mitchell and Hughes met Coyle at Burnley and been with him since, whilst Barrow, who is the son of Graham Barrow, was with Coyle at Bolton

Speaking about his new coaching team Coyle told the Latics official site - 'It was so important that we brought in the right personnel to take up key roles at the club and I'm delighted to bring in people who have proven themselves at the highest level and who I trust completely.

'I know they'll come here and do everything in their power to bring success to Wigan Athletic, and I can't ask any more than that. '

Just 3 Points For Wigan Athletic To Play For (01/05/16)

The Latics have only 3 points left to play for in this year's battle for League One promotion.

Gary Caldwell's Blackpool Reflections

A very proud Gary Caldwell spoke to the media after the game, let's take a look at what he had to say:

Dan's Big Game Report - Blackpool 0 Latics 4

As you read this message in the year 2036, much of Blackpool vs. Wigan '16 has passed into the annals of Latics lore. Scarcely has a single game of kickball received quite as much build-up - from the minute this fixture was announced to the moment match ref Stuart Attwell finally tootled on his tin whistle, talk of Bloomfield Road on 30 April was incessant.

And I expect it's been much the same since, with (admittedly failed) film scripts written and (admittedly shoddy) statues
