Latics Maul The Lions

Wigan Athletic continued preseason in winning ways with a 6-1 victory over in the US against Dayton Dutch Lions

The game may have been played in searing heat on a rough surface, but that didn't stop the Latics from showing their class and running a riot with a great display. Goals from Fortune, McCarthy, Holt (2), Dicko and Bingham emphasised the Latics dominance in the game

A full match report by Ed Jones is available on Latics Official website

With the start of the Championship season rapidly approaching Latics boss Owen Coyle will be pleased that his squad got a good work out to get their fitness levels up

Speaking to the clubs official website Coyle said - 'I have to be delighted with that'

'We scored six and could have had six more on a pitch which made passing the ball tough and in a heat and humidity which saps muscles. But no complaints about the conditions, that's why we're here, to build up fitness on the way to August 3rd, and all in all it was another great exercise for the boys.'

Latics now play their final game on the US tour on Friday against Pittsburgh Riverhounds, with fitness and bonding being the main aims of the trip it is a case of so far so good

Community Shield Travel

Vital Latics family coaches are once again heading down to Wembley for the third time in five months, having played and won the FA Cup semi-final, then of course winning the Cup final at England's national stadium, it is time to make the trip again as Wigan Athletic take part in this seasons Community Shield game against Manchester United

With some hard bargaining the cost as been brought down and the price of a return ticket on the Family Coach is just 27:50. We will be using the same pick-up points as we used for our two previous trips and we will also be stopping off at Bicester once again

As with the last two trips we will also be supporting Josephs Goal by means of a raffle and quiz

There is a breakfast buffet (6:50) available at our stop off for those who wish to have a spot of breakie, for more details and how to book please click here
