Latics Unveil New Club Secretary




The Latics have appointed a new secretary following the departure of Stuart Hayton, who ended his 20+ years association with the club by moving to Liverpool, the new guy is Chris Laird, could he be related to Keith Laird who found notoriety working at the Phoenix Club?

He is a fully qualified solicitor, so I also hope he has a sense of humour and doesn't try to sue me for the Keith Laird comment, only joking Chris everyone knows Keith Laird is a fictional character.

Chris joins us from Stoke City where he was assistant secretary, he has previously worked on dealings with UEFA through Stokes venture in the Europa Cup a couple of seasons back, so he brings some experience with him of dealing with the European bureaucrats

Speaking to Latics official Chris says - 'I would first of all like to thank all the staff at Wigan Athletic, and Stuart Hayton, for making me feel incredibly welcome at the club.

'I'm delighted to have been given this opportunity and I'm looking forward to helping the club progress and develop from behind the scenes.

'I've heard and witnessed the fantastic job done by Stuart in this role for such a long time, and I hope I can bring as much to the team behind the scenes to help bring success to Wigan Athletic.'
