'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What The Bosses Said - Reading 1 Latics 2

Latics gained an excellent win at the Madejski Stadium, racing into a two goal lead inside the first twelve minutes, at one stage it looked like it was all too easy, but Reading came back, they missed a penalty before grabbing a lifeline with twenty minutes remaining to put Rosler's men under pressure, but the Latics held firm

After the game both bosses spoke to the media, let's take a look at what they had to say:

Latics boss Uwe Rosler - 'I was very proud; we started the game like we have started our previous matches and executed the game plan perfectly, causing Reading real problems and we saw how they lost their confidence in playing the ball out from the back.

'The first half was very impressive, the crowd got on their team's back and we knew that late on we would tire, but the difference this time from the Bolton game was that we created a number fantastic chances to put the game to bed.

'The players dug in and have shown a tremendous winning attitude, but injuries during the game mean that we have paid a heavy price for victory which will set us a new challenge for the coming weeks.

'We had so many opportunities in the first half to keep the ball better so I wanted to bring Jordi on because he is such an intelligent player who can control the tempo of any game and I felt he played an instrumental role when he came on, setting up the counter attack and creating many of the good chances we had.'

Reading boss Nigel Adkins - 'We gifted them two goals.

'Wigan are a good side, they pressed us early on, then there was a little bit of nervousness and our quality wasn't to the level it needs to be. But you cannot legislate for the two poor goals we gave away. Shocking goals.

'The players did well second half from 2-0 down and showed what's important - spirit and character, but also the ability to pass the ball and create opportunities.

'There were plenty of opportunities, none more so than when Pav had a shot and Al-Habsi made an unbelievable save. We ran out of time really. Wigan managed the game well towards the end of the game, stopping the game, when you're relying on the referee to stop the clock.'
