Latics were taken to a replay by League 1 club MK Dons in the first defence of their FA cup, but in the end and despite falling a goal behind, the Latics march through to round four to face Crystal Palace at the DW Stadium
The tie over all was quite an exciting affair, a six goal thriller at the DW Stadium followed up by four more goals last night as the game went into extra time, but the Latics class told in the end
After the game both bosses spoke to the media, let's take a look at what they had to say:
Latics boss Uwe Rosler - 'I thought we did well in the beginning of the match and created the better chances'
'But the game opened up and although we had the better opportunities they got the first goal.
'I said to the players at half time that we needed to raise our levels if we wanted to stay in the cup; certain players did that very impressively and as a team we can be very proud of the way in which we took charge of the game.
'The substitutes all played a key role in helping us through the tie and in extra time helped us see out the game comfortably. '
'Nick (Powell) was fantastic. We all know what he can do and it was always a part of the plan to bring him into the game during the second half.
'Don't forget he is still a young kid who has played a lot of Championship football this season and we have to be careful not to burn him out, but he came on tonight and decided the game.
'I have to compliment Emmerson Boyce and Jordi Gomez as well who came off the bench and were influential also.
'I had a chat with Jordi before bringing him on and said that I didn't think it was a pitch that would favour him. But he told me not to worry, and that if he came on he would help us turn the game, which he did.
'Overall I'm very happy with the team's performance. We looked very strong from a fitness point-of-view, particularly in extra time which we didn't want but had to get through.
'It means we have a good fourth round tie to look forward to next weekend against Crystal Palace, but all the attention now goes on this weekend's game away to Doncaster Rovers, and aiming to continue our good run of form.'
MK Dons boss Karl Robinson - 'We didn't deserve to lose the game, I thought over 180 minutes we were very dominant and the better team. We've played really well over the two games and I`m just really, really proud of my players.
'I thought Stephen (Gleeson) and (Darren) Potter, in particular, were magnificent today but I`m happy with everything that went on in the game and I couldn`t have asked for anymore.
'When Smithy went on and we moved to 4-4-2 we had a couple more chances and maybe if we nick one then, with a few minutes to go, it's a different game. It just wasn't to be.
'There were large parts of today that were very, very good and we can take a lot of positives from it but we just got to dust ourselves off now and go again on Saturday.
'But, we can now look back fondly on our FA Cup run because, once again, it`s been another magical run for us.'
'I thought the referee was excellent tonight, it was one of the best refereeing performances I've ever seen at Stadium MK this season.
'Today's game just saw two teams playing football the right way and giving their all, a referee conducting himself in a very mild and a polite manner, and the fans conducting themselves in the right way.'
