Meet The Ref - Cardfiff v Latics - Martin Atkinson

Latics travel to the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday to face Premier League club Cardiff City in the FA Cup 5th round. The man in the middle will be Bradford based official Martin Atkinson.

This will be Atkinson's first Latics game since our 2-2 home draw with Spurs last April, he has been in charge of one Cardiff game this season, their 2-0 away defeat to Aston Villa.

The 42 year old has been refereeing since he was 16, he was a Conference referee in 2002, but he had a rapid rise and had progressed all the way to the Premier League by 2005, known to many as one to favour the big clubs, Atkinson can be a fussy ref and very whistle happy
