Uwe Rösler - 'Ben Watson Is Our Talisman'




Wigan Athletic face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the FA cup quarter-final tie that is a repeat of last season's final, which of course the Latics won, courtesy of Ben Watsons 90th minute headed goal.

Unfortunately for the Latics, Watson will be missing from the squad as the teams line-up to face each other tomorrow, having suffered a double leg fracture that has ended his season prematurely the 28 year old midfield man will be watching from home as his team mates attempt to emulate what was achieved 10 months back at Wembley in that glorious final.

Watson has scored in the last two rounds against Premier League opposition Crystal Palace and Cardiff City, Latics boss Uwe Rösler says that the playmaker is the clubs FA cup 'talisman' and will be sorely missed.

Speaking about our FA cup talisman Rösler told the clubs website - 'Ben has been somewhat our talisman in this competition so far this season.

'He's been involved in every round and scored in the last two rounds, it's appropriate really considering the impact he made in the cup final last year.

'Ben has been a crucial player for us, we'll miss him and any team would miss a player like Ben Watson.

'All credit has to go to my players for the way they have reacted to the injury, and credit has to go to those who have stepped in.

'We can't afford to have excuses about players not being available for games, but we'll be thinking about Ben a lot that's for sure.'


With 4,000 Latics fans taking 4,000 Ben Watson masks to the game tomorrow, our talisman may still weave his magic
