'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What The Bosses Said - Man City 1 Latics 2

Latics pulled off another fantastic victory as we booked a return to our second home Wembley, a win at the Etihad is a rare occurrence for an away side but that is exactly what we did to claim an FA cup semi final spot for the second season running.

Goals from Jordi Gomez and James Perch had the Latics in command against a Manchester City side that once again couldn't cope with the Latics, Samir Nasri pulled a goal back midway through the second half and for a time it was hey lads hey, as City piled on the pressure, but we held strong.

After the game both bosses spoke to the media, let's take a look at what they had to say:

Latics boss Uwe Rösler - 'It has been a tremendous performance from our whole team, every single player and we have shown no fear'

'We went into the game with a strong mental approach and we set up in a very similar way to the two games from last season against Manchester City.

'We stamped our own identity on the performance with good pressurising, with a brave approach to getting on the ball at the back in our back three.

'All-in-all we had heroic performances out there today.'

'I am very happy for my players, my staff and for Ben Watson

'Ben was a big incentive today for us to really do well for him, but also first and foremost this is for our supporters.

'Last season was an unbelievable achievement to win The FA Cup and put Wigan Athletic worldwide on the football map, but to follow that up this year by being in the Semi-Final is equally strong.

'We never thought we could achieve that again but to be in the Semi-Finals, the players deserve all the credit. To have the chance to play against Arsenal at Wembley, of course we take that.'

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini - 'I think it's the worst first half we've had in the year because we didn't have the pace to play against a team that is in a good moment'

'They won five games in a row so we knew before the match we are going to play a difficult team, maybe we thought that was not going to be so difficult and when we react it was too late.'

'We knew exactly how Wigan play; it's not a tactical problem, it was a pace problem, a tempo problem'

'In the last 35 minutes they continue playing the same way and we continue playing the same way. We had at least three of four chances to score more goals. When you don't have the same intensity it's very difficult to win.'
