Any Previous? - Latics v Watford




Latics face Watford on Saturday at the DW Stadium for an important Championship fixture. We have previously met the Hornets 13 times in all competitions, the first time being an FA cup 3rd round tie in 1990 when we lost 2-0 at Vicarage Road, the last time was earlier this season in September when an 82nd minute Cristian Battocchio goal gave Watford a 1-0 win.

The game that stands out between the two sides for me was back in 1999 when a third tier Latics thumped top flight Watford 3-1 in the Worthington Cup at the DW Stadium, goals from Simon Howarth (2) and a Carl Bradshaw penalty sealed Latics dominance on the game, the Watford goalscorer that night was Peter Kennedy who hit a screamer from thirty yards and of course joined us a year later
