'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jewell backs Denny to Shine

Landzaat was dropped for Saturdays 4-0 victory over Manchester City, with Aussie Josip Skoko starting the game.

The Dutch international wasn't warming the bench long as he replaced Skoko after 30 minutes.

'Denny is a quality international player but he hasn't settled in yet, I'm not going to hide behind that,' he told Wigan Evening Post.

'Denny knows that and I'm sure he can only get better, but some players settle quicker than others. '

'I know he is far better than he has shown and sometimes a breather out of the team doesn't do anyone any harm.'
