Any Previous? - Blackburn v Latics

Latics travel to Ewood Park on Saturday to face Blackburn Rovers in the final Championship game of the season, the two clubs have met on 19 previous occasions in competitive matches, with the Rovers having the better of those meetings:

Latics 5 wins, Rovers 11, draws 3

The first meeting came back in August 1986 when the Latics lost both legs of a Littlewoods Cup tie (League cup), in fact of the first eight meetings we lost seven and only managed one draw, but it is recent history that concerns us and that is where the picture turns

The last four games between the two sides have seen three wins and a draw in the Latics favour, but the game that stands out is the Premier League clash of December 15th 2007 when a hat-trick apiece from Latics striker Marcus Bent and Rovers star Roque Santa Cruz led to one of the most entertaining games seen at the DW Stadium as we eventually ran out 5-3 winners.
