'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The 12th Man - Stand Up And Be Counted

This weeks Wigan Evening Post 12th Man Feature has one contribution from Vital Latics:

Let's Stand Up And Be Counted

The curtain fell on our first Championship campaign for nine years on Saturday, a defeat away at Blackburn by four goals to three will appear in the stats books for people to ponder over, but that won't tell half the story

Latics made seven changes and fielded a virtual reserve side that still went to Ewood Park and put three goals past one of the divisions so called form teams, an enterprising game of football that showed there will be many games to look forward to next season, which ever division we may find ourselves competing in.

That brings us nicely to the encore, stepping out for the final time this season at the DW Stadium on Friday evening, the Latics will be entertaining QPR in the first leg of the Championship playoff semi final, eleven gladiators will take to the field with fire in their bellies after a rousing speech from their leader Uwe Rösler, standing in the way of a glorious finale to the campaign with another trip to Wembley is a band of highly paid mercenaries, put together by that wily old campaigner Harry Redknapp.

The playoffs have been referred to many times as a lottery, form goes out the window, it is a test of steel, grit, nerves as much as skill, the prize for the victors is massive, we as supporters have a vital role to play in all this, we need to pack out that arena, get the noise levels through the roof, we need to get behind the team and lift them to the heights that we reached at Wembley last May.

This is our time to stand up and be counted, this is our time to roar the team on to glory, this is our time to do our bit and as one back our team to the hilt, together we are the Latics, we have shown what we can achieve by being together and believing, now it is time to show again.

WE ARE THE LATICS
