'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Future Is Bright Under Rösler

I have no idea which way the game will go against QPR, even if we win we still have to beat Derby to get promoted and that will be a tough ask, yes of course we can do it, no doubt about it, but then again there is just as much chance that we won't, either way I am not concerned about the future.

If we do go up, the club is going into a division that it knows very well having been there for eight of the past nine seasons, if we stay down, then we have acquitted ourselves very well in the Championship this campaign, especially since Rösler came in.

If we go up then we will need to recruit quality players to cope with the demands of the Premier League, we know what a massive step up it is in terms of class, but we have a proven record of bringing in players who can play a major part in a Premier League season. Within the squad we already have tried and tested lads at that level, both the keepers, McArthur, Ramis, McManaman, Maloney, Gomez have all been there and done it, Chris McCann looks more than capable of holding his own in the top flight too, so it won't be a complete overhaul

Stay down and again we will need to recruit in certain areas, we all know where as a team we lack, our leading goal scorer is on 12 goals for the season and whilst I am not one who advocates the only way to be successful is to have a 20+ goal scorer, we do need our strikers to chip in with more goals than they have been. Martyn Waghorn has shown signs that he will be well into double figures in a full Championship season and he has been a very good signing, but we could lose a couple of our 'classier' players if we don't go up and we'll need to bring in replacements.

Last week I was lucky enough to speak with Rösler at the Latics training ground, Christopher Park, he told me that plans are well under way for next season with both scenarios, Premier League or Championship, accounted for, I have no reason to doubt him, we have already been linked via some reliable sources with a couple of exciting players and there will be many more on the radar.

We have a manager in charge who knows what he wants and how to get it, he turned our season around and his style of football had the supporters excited, a full campaign with Rösler at the helm in the Championship I'm positive that we'd have got promoted automatically this time round, if we fail in the playoffs then I am positive that next season we will be challenging under the gaffer, go up and we will hold our own, no doubt about it.
