'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dundee Defender Linked With The Latics

It would appear that the Latics could be once again casting their net north of the border if rumours, or more a bit of hearsay, are to be believed, suggesting that we are looking to sign a player who has just left Scottish Championship club Dundee as a free agent.

23 year old defender Declan Gallagher, who started his career with Celtic as a youth player before moving on to Stranraer (loan), Clyde and from there to Dundee, is the man in question, despite three separate contract offers from Dundee the 6' 5' centre back sees his career progressing elsewhere and has decided to leave Dens Park, whether he ends up at the Latics remains to be seen.

Gallagher was a rock at the heart of the Dundee defence last season, not missing a game and making 40 appearances in total as Dundee won the Championship and gained promotion to the SPL conceding just 26 goals in 36 league games.

Boss Uwe Rösler is keen to bring his own men into the squad, but promises that he won't make changes just for the sake of it, with Andrew Taylor, Aaron Sinclair-Taylor and the expected signing of James Tavernier all adding to defensive options at the club, Declan Gallagher may just be a piece of hearsay that doesn't materialise into anything substansive.
