Rapid Vienna Striker Linked With Latics Move

Rapid Vienna Striker Linked With Latics Move

The latest player linked with the Latics has a touch of realism about it, Rapid Vienna, USA international striker Terrence Boyd is being touted as on the verge of joining Uwe Rösler's Wigan Athletic assault charge on the Championship title for €3m.

The 23 year old was in the USA preliminary World Cup 30, but unfortunately didn't make the cut for the final squad, despite scoring an impressive 20 goals in 38 games last season. Born in Germany to a US serviceman, Boyd moved to the States shortly after his birth, but at an early age he moved back to Germany where he grew up and got his first break playing for Hertha Berlin youth side, he also spent time at Borussia Dortmund before moving to Austria with Rapid Vienna in 2012.

The 6' 2 striker has a more than decent scoring record in the Austrian Bundesliga, with just a year remaining on his current contract it looks like Rösler is stepping in to secure with news stories rife in Austria about his impending departure for the Latics.

A goal scoring striker was our Achilles Heel last season and it is an area of the squad that does need at least one new addition.
