Lukas Jutkiewicz Identified As Potential Target

The Wigan Evening Post are reporting that the Latics are chasing Middlesbrough striker Lukas Jutkiewicz, the 25 year old spent part of last season on loan at Bolton and actually scored against the Latics at the Reebok.

The Southampton born striker started his career off at Swindon before moving to Everton for £1 million in July 2007, Jutkiewicz made just one appearance for the Toffees, though he did have loan spells at Plymouth, Huddersfield and Motherwell, before moving on to Coventry City in 2010. 18 goals in 67 games for the Sky Blues paved the way for a £1.3m bid from Boro in 2012 and he was on his way up to the North East.

Jutkiewicz made 44 appearances for Boro finding the net 11 times, he played 20 times for Bolton last campaign whilst on loan and banged home 7 times, including the one against the Latics.

Derby are reportedly ready to bid £1 million and there is also competition from both Bolton and Wolves for the 6' 1 hitman.

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.

Paul Cook named an unchanged side from our last league game, with Michael Jacobs returning to the starting line-up.
