'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Vital Latics World Cup Predictor Group Stage Table

Well that's the group stages finished, bit of a marathon 48 games over 15 days, we have had 32 people participate although a few have fallen by the wayside over the course of the first stage.

I am so glad to announce that it was myself who finished top dog and would love to tell you it was due to my superior football knowledge, but alas as I said yesterday, when I became methodical and analysed the games for a couple of days my scoring suffered, as soon as I went back to having a stab at the scores there was no looking back.

Can I give a special mention to a couple of posters, Marksparko, started the competition off with an opening night seven pointer, tonight in the final two group games he had a pair, this has shot him up to a top eight finish, and a home tie in the knockout phase.

Lazysid's weekend away is probably the real reason I won the first stage, his missed six games are the reason he finished runner up.

Lastly longsufferingblue has kept going all the way through, she has finished lowest of all the ones who kept posting their scores, she didn't manage one seven pointer all the way through and that was her downfall.

Thanks to all of you who have kept going, I think it has made the games a little more interesting, cursing when a score went against you, cheering like mad with that late goal to give you points, well it's been like that in our household.

Barry will be explaining how the next stage works, there will be points total league for the knock out stages, where everyone starts from scratch again, this will run alongside the top 16 knockout competition and a prize will be on offer for both comps.

Once again well done to you all and good luck in the knockout phase, this time a week on Sunday we will have two Vital world champions.
